Overview
The Manufacturing Engineering curriculum includes Industrial Engineering courses that teach lean analysis and process improvements. I have also read The Goal by Eliyahu Goldratt.

Zone 5 Technologies
After writing work instructions for every harness supplied to the Rusty Dagger missile program, I conducted cycle times for all harness builds. This led to the purchase of an automatic wire cutter to decrease overall build time and decrease non-conformances during inspection.

Zone 5 Technologies
As the manufacturing engineering intern for the Avionics Shop, I was tasked with solving production issues with harnesses for the Rusty Dagger missile program. I implemented the five-step lean workplace organization and visual management methodology to improve production. I standardized all technician workstations with the proper equipment, placed shadowboxes for all tooling, cleaned the workstations, and set a checklist for all technicians to reset their workstations before leaving for the day.
IME 223 Process Improvement Project
This project focused on analyzing a local restaurant's business and implementing lean process improvements.
Solution
By creating a flow diagram, we found waste in excess transportation and work done by the server, leading to excessive customer wait times. Three direct time studies compiled into a Pareto chart, showed what tasks were causing 80% of delays, resulting in 30 minutes of waiting.
Analysis led to: implementing an online andon system for food readiness decreased the standard time by about 6%, using an online payment processing service table-side introduced around a 21% decreases in service time, and assigning waiters to specific locations led to a 4% reduction in time.
All of these improvements accumulate to a 31.9% reduction in service time, allowing the restaurant to accommodate 84 more tables throughout the entire day, increasing their revenue and profitability.
